Clouds Reaching the Mountain: An Ask and An Offering

Some of you who have been with me for a long time know that the very first iteration of my newsletter came into being when I was called to bring the medicine of cowry shell divinations based on the cosmology of the Dagara as well as kontomble voice divinations to my communities in 2015. (The name that the newsletter wanted to wear for many years was Dragon’s Pantomime.)

Then, through the unfolding of many, many other things, I was asked by the ancestors not to share about this work publicly. I continued to do divinations off and on when people reached out to me, especially returning community members. But it was almost as if I was put on a hiatus so I could continue to grow other aspects of my life and being.

Now, they are saying, it is time to make an ask and an offering.

The ask is from those who have received divinations from me in the past and found them to be efficacious. If you are called, you can send me a small object (ideally made of natural materials) to include in my divination kit. Each divinatory object speaks in certain ways, and it is possible that my “basket” needs to incorporate certain new ways of speaking, and these will come through the aegis of those who have already benefited from the communication with the otherworlds in the past. If you would like to send me an object to consider including (and your own associations with the object, although this is not necessary), please send me a private message and I can send you my mailing address. (Whether the object will make it into the “basket” would depend on how the other worlds are speaking to me through it.)

The offering is that I am ready now, again, to sit with people who might wish to work with me as a diviner one-on-one. I also work with couples and with communities. Divinations in this ancient methodology offer a possibility to communicate with the ethereal field of wisdom and healing that includes ancestors, nature, and the waters that flow to the earth. This is not a technology of prediction. (If you are currently my student, please hold off until we are no longer in or affected by this layer of our relationship.) The easiest way would be to write to me expressing your interest and we’ll find a time. As I’ve done for many years, the divinations will be offered on a sliding scale donation basis (details of which are on this website). A percentage of the proceeds over the next three months will go to The Sonder Project, which has been building wells in Dano, Burkina Faso—Malidoma’s village—and will be moving its attention to well projects in Sobonfu’s village next.
